MAERSK - AE3 Weight Restrictions
wef 2nd July 2008
Dear All,
While there was open space we relaxed the appliciation of
1) Weight restrictions
2) Heavy weight surcharge.
It would appear that allowing this flexibility has been too successful and we are now seeing AE3 weights becoming an issue and resulting in Draft problems in some ports.
Following gives an overview of the average weights for past 4 months.
MAR
10 DURHAM 20,8
11 DIEPPE 19,2
12 DEVA 21,1
13 DULLES 20,6
14 ER AMSTERDAM 20,8
APR
15 TIRANA 20,4
16 ER FELIXSTOWE 21,4
17 DERBY 20,5
18 DRAKE 22,0
MAY
19 DIEPPE 22,6
20 DEVA 23,1
21 TOLEDO 22,2
22 ER AMSTERDAM 24,1
JUN
23 TIRANA 22,6
24 ER FELIXSTOWE 24,0
25 DERBY 22,5
26 DRAKE 23,1
27 TASMAN 24,9
It was stated that when heavy 20' / weights did become an issue again that the restrictions and surcharges would be reintroduced.
It would appear this time is apon us.
Therefore with immediate effect,
Please cease acceptance of 20' above 24t cargo 18-24t apply usd200 / 20' additional.
We must reduce the average weigh of AE3 to avoid loosing opportunity Ie increase of by average of 3t equates to approx 225ffe lost.
With AE5 withdrawn it is important that we maximise the slots and bring this situation under control and get average to level of 20-21t rather than 23-24t
regards
